Hornby R1069 Old Smokey Passenger Set

It could well be argued that in the 1920's and 1930's the British Railways network was in its heyday. Small locomotives were used with some of the railway companies rather than the 'crack' mainline locomotives. 

These smaller locomotives often pulled more mature rolling stock on smaller branch lines and because of their age and in some cases dishevelled appearance, it is more than likely that at least one of these trains would have been nicknamed 'Old Smoky'!
