Overview
Bachmann 32-550A Class A1 60163 'Tornado'
Designed by H. A. Peppercorn, the A1 Class was introduced in 1948 for express passenger and mixed traffic duties.
'Tornado' is the first mainline steam locomotive to be built in the UK since 'Evening Star', the last steam locomotive built by British Rail in 1960. The locomotive was built by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, a charitable trust founded in 1990 to build Tornado. It is considered the 50th Peppercorn A1. None of the previous 49 survived into preservation.

Got mine just before Christmas and although the detail is fantastic the running gear isn't as good as it could be. The tender isn't being used for electrical pickup so it's only the six main wheels in use. The tender connector is fiddly to connect and easy to disconnect.
The train seems to run ok going forward but is quite noisy when running in reverse.
