Class 90 History
The Class 90 Electric Locomotives were built by BREL at BREL Crewe. There was a total of 50 Class 90 Locomotives constructed. The Class 90 Locomotives entered service during 1987. These Class 90 Locomotives were built for mixed traffic purposes and prove that they have tremendous traction effort by pulling sixteen coaches on the Caledonian Sleeper service between Glasgow and London / London and Glasgow every night and also used daily on Freightliner duties all over the national rail network.
The Class 90 locomotives are used daily on Freightliner Intermodal trains all over the country and can be spotted at Mossend Yard whilst awaiting their next rostered duty..
Hornby R3077 Class 90 - 90 046 DCC Ready Model
The Hornby R3077 Class 90 - 90 046 is fitted with a 5 Pole Skew Wound Motor. It is also DCC Ready and can be convered to DCC Fitted by installing an 8 Pin Decoder. Hornby have manufactured the Hornby R3077 in the older style Freightliner Livery Pristine Finish
